After a long hiatus This 1972 JULY built is celebrating 52 YEARS, a FORD XA FALCON GT survivor known by many as 'THE MOTHBALL' the car is real deal built during the SUPERCAR CRISIS

AFTER  the  SUPERCAR CRISIS SUNDAY 25th JUNE 1972 soon after the much anticipated FORD falcon  GT HO 4 option was axed  Some of the allocated  parts to the PHASE IV program various components were used on other Fords. It was said there were HO's already on the production line which were apparently detuned ? removal of add on parts and bought back to almost standard.
Were any of the 200 cars already built? or built and completed on the production line ? It is estimated Ford can Build 200 units in half a day however the run is generally under 50 of a model The XA GT HO  production schedule was 100 in the last week of JUNE 1972 The first run started earlier 20th JUNE 
It is further said that some 25 units are usually specially prepared for racing generally when marked Bathurst on the order and the HO list sent from all the interstate Ford offices 
Was the MOTHBALL one of the 200 destined as a GTHO?
