Back to LOT 6 Al Turner's FORD WORKS


The BIRTHPLACE of the GT-HO Lot 6 Mahoneys Road Thomastown Bill Bourke Ford Australia Manager and newly appointed Ford Performance Racing and development manager Al Turner both had a passion for Ford and performance cars so to build them away from distractions of the main Broadmeadows and Geelong plants Al Turner successfully occupies a large warehouse in a secret location to created the 1969 FORD FALCON GT-HO and other Racing Team projects Fast forward Peter Dietze from the Ford GTHO foundation successfully arranged with Salvatore the new owner of the ex Lot 6 warehouse to have a celebration day and a memorial ceremony on the Bathurst 1000 race day on the 13th of October 2019 marking a celebration of 50 YEARS - lets begin with a symbolic arrival on the day in a June 1972 built Falcon GT - Most of the first photos of the inside of the secret Lot 6 were made public in August 1972 featuring the building of the new XA GT-HO PHASE 4 lets retace what may have been a stroll to this revered site in the only completed XA GT-HO 4 that was XA 3 in photos that apperared in 1987 This HO became a rally car and took a real trashing in rally and motor cross in the hands of Ford rally driver Bruce Hodgson
