fact 15 The QC20 ENGINE in XA-1
BLUEPRINTED 351-4V HO ENGINES QUALITY CONTROL TWENTY
Howard Marsden instructed Bill Santuccione to build a QC 20 engine for XA 1. This engine is pictured above like all the other QC 20 square cast engines there are no engine numbers stamped on the block. Misleading information about XA 1 having the stock GT engine is made up pure fabrication. Bill Santuccione worked out 20 applications that would make the certain the 351 Cleveland would be good for 8000 RPM and cruise all day at 7000 RPM without letting go. Brother John Santuccione would follow that formula and do the heavy lifting building the engines from bare cast engine cylinder blocks . Bill would carefully select and pick up the parts then deliver them to Racecraft engineering workshop in Barkly street Footscray which only did the engines for FORD racing. This was the mini assembly line solely for the Phase IV racing cars. Of all the engines built there were only four Phase IV engines built for the 3 Brambles red cars
Close or Wide Ratio GEARBOX
FORM YOUR own OPINION Extract from Australian Muscle car Magazine Issue 5. Howard Marsden clearly states that the close ratio gearbox would not be used the wide ratio is the choice for the GT-HO 4. Bruce Hodgson was given both Close and wide ration gearboxes. Bruce Hodgson had both gearboxes to use depending on where the rally was taking place mountains or normal tracks. Axles and differentials 31 spline & 28 spline also applied to which racing circuits were worked better.
31 Spline or 28 Spline
FORM YOUR own OPINION After our years of research The FACTS 15,16,17 & 18 with photos stated & shown here support a different truth on thorough evidence that what is stated above what Bill Santuccione & Howard Marsden say to AMC Issue 5 Both Howard Marsden and Bill Santuccione state the 351-4V HO engines for the Phase 4 are 2 bolt main caps. Bruce Hodgson and David Bowden state the blocks are 4 Bolt.

fact 20 The WHEELS AUG 1972 confusion
FORM YOUR own OPINION In WHEELS MAGAZINE AUGUST 1972 on the Building of the Allan Moffat & Fred Gibson HO4 Race cars XA 1 & XA 2 for decades there was never any mention of a 3rd Race car XA 3 That only surfaced with Dr John Wright when he was Editor of the 1987 First issue of SUPER FORD Photos showing 3 cars for the first time published were from FORD PR shoot before Mel Nichols was invited to Lot 6 WHEELS
Confusion over the last 50 + years that it was thought as these were the first PHOTO publication of the GTHO PHASE 4 the WHEELS Photos by Uwe Kuessner taken first THAT WAS NOT SO
It was the PHOTO shoot of FORD Public relations in which the cars were marked 2 & 3 that were taken earlier
( XA 3 SPARE & XA 2 GIBSON marked only for the photo shoot then unmarked The WHEELS photos were taken after XA 3 was completed and at Calder Park at the time
THE Motoring readers ONLY ever saw photos of 2 cars being built one for Allan Moffat and the other for Fred Gibson
It was not until 15 years later in 1987 when the FORD PR Photos were published in SUPERFORD issue 1 that for the first time motoring readers saw the 3 XA FALCON GT'S with the first marked 3 being the SPARE car and the second marked 2 being the allocated FRED GIBSON car THe last car in the photo being unmarked is the 1 Allan Moffat allocated FORD XA FALCON GTHO
