1972 after the 20th JUNE with the Ford PR PHOTO session Plus the Mel Nichols visit to see the 2 Ford Works XA FALCON GT-HO PHASE IV's. It was not widely known Circa June 22nd Howard Marsden invited the newly appointed motoring editor Mr Evan Green of the Sydney SUN HERALD keen to please his boss the newly appointed Chief Editor of one of the biggest selling newspapers in Australia. As it was late in the day it was believed to be a secret invitation to Evan Green to Lot 6 Mahoneys Road Ford's Special Vehicles Development Centre John Wynne returned to Lot 6 expectantly to his surprise John saw a non Ford Company vehicle park inside Lot 6 which parking is strictly for Ford Company owned cars only . John saw it was Evan Green's car parked inside out of sight . Howard was surprised another staff member was there Howard was there with Evan Green explaining the build and capabilities of the new XA FALCON GT-HO race cars the worlds fastest 4 doors being built for Allan Moffat and Fred Gibson, Howard asked John not to say anything about the visit to Ford by Evan Green what unfolds a few days later you can see why also it is questionable why Evan Greens car was parked inside out of view ? To learn of this 52 years later is certainly a revelation.I suppose one never thought about how Evan Green got the mail on the Ford SUPERCARS . This proved to be one of the darkest moments for the Ford team, Ford fans and Aussie muscle racing car followers
