Around one year before XA-2 was built that is 1973 (Keith Goodall GT-HO IV) The JUNE 1972 SHAKE DOWN Calder Park Raceway..XA 3 John Wynne in control photo-Geoff Sharpe The only one of the XA FALCON GT-HO Ford Works RACING Prototypes completed and Road registered in 1972 XA 2 Dulux Rally November 1972 Rally driver and car salesman Keith Goodall from Townsville was offered a chance by Howard Marsden to purchase one of the XA FALCON GT-HO Ford Works RACING PrototypesYes sold! and money changed hands however Keith Goodall's nephew Young Keith Goodhall ( Charlie) and his dad Kevin Goodall of Melbourne ,So excited rushed down to Ford Special Vehicles secret hideaway at Lot 6 Mahoneys Road Thomastown to pick up the XA 2.The car was still incomplete and to to call back , constantly calling and still the XA 2 was not finished the year passed it was 1973 still not finished Summer was over and during late Autumn finally XA 2 was ready to be picked up within 2 weeks it was on a ship bound for Townsville normally Kevin would drive Keith's cars to Townsville and run them in. This one was a bit special so it was decided to ship this by cargo ship. XA 2 arrived in Townsville in Winter 1973 Keith had no time to convert it to a road registered car before XA 2's first appearance at the Townsville Show 1973 Keith did dress up the car in a racing car fashion and displayed the XA 2 at his mates McKillop FORD stand Keith a bit of a larrikin would start up the mighty XA HO and blast everbody with the big unmuffled cleveland with side dump pipes with excessive decibles The sight was something to behold .It was decided the car would be a daily driver and road registration conversion began. The local senior highway patrol police officer did assist with the registration after a test drive with Keith and taking the wheel for a bit of a thrash. The IMAGE of John Wynne at CALDERPARK circa JUNE 1972 with XA 3 the first & only completed HO 4 RACING CAR for the FORD works team this photo was developed from a slide of John's his daughter Sue Wynne stated on facebook today that the photo was developed back to front so this is the correct take
