A CLUE maybe that a Ford Motor Company salesman rep was pulled over on the Western Highway by a Police highway patrol candy car ( Police XA Falcon GT-HO variant), he asked the officer if he could look under the bonnet as he said that he worked for Ford Motor Company on inspecting the XA Police motor he commented that it was the same type of motor which had an eared sump and same as he saw there was a row of similar motors ready to go into the PHASE IV cars when he was the Ford plant before the demise of the Phase IV This police car on looking under the distributor cap it did not the Phase IV rotor button so no rev limiter story this was mentioned in an Australian Muscle Car magazine ISSUE 37 in a letter from Darin Sheahan.
