1 XA-1 was not numbered was the last to arrive at LOT 6
2 XA-2 was the 1st first to arrive at LOT 6
3 XA-3 was the 2nd second to arrive at LOT 6
1 XA-1 was designated to be Allan Moffat's HO
2 XA-2 was designated to be Fred Gibson's HO
3 XA-3 was designated to be a spare car
Consider this, XA-3 was it really going to be a spare or would FORD Works run a 3rd Bathurst entry with a nominated driver as in the past Ian Geoghegan, John French ? or Bruce McPhee? It was said to be BRUCE HODGSON
If you think Ford works were only going to only enter 2 cars at Bathurst think again
Howard Marsden was a master strategist and would give the impression to the media that Ford only having 2 cars and wee way behind GMH & Chrysler Wheels Aug 1972 article on how the HOs were built would be orchestrated meanwhile XA-3 was at Calder Park having its shakedown
1 XA-1 was the last went to McLeod FORD and completed at Rockdale NSW
2 XA-2 the 2nd & last completed at Lot 6 went to Keith Goodall
3 XA-3 was the first and only completed HO in 1972 went to Bruce Hodgson for Ford Rally competition
SUPERFORD ISSUE 1 in 1987 has shown all the photos
Australian Muscle Car Magazine did NOT show all the photos
In Issue 5 on the GT-HO IV Australian Muscle Car Magazine story David Bowden numbered the cars in order of arrival to Lot 6 and NOT how Howard Marsden allocated them the numbers as pictured above were temporary for a Ford public relations photo shoot and nor seen by most until 1987 The Wheels August 1972 & Sports Car World September 1972 photos were taken after the Ford photo shoot with the number 2 removed and the 1 not numbered car took up the position of the 3 marked car that left the building
1 was the 1st first to arrive at LOT 6 XA-1 XA-3 Allan Moffat David Bowden
2 was the 2nd second to arrive at LOT 6 XA-2 Fred Gibson - Bruce Hodgson
3 was not numbered it was the last to arrive at LOT 6 The Spare car - Paul Carthew
